130-year-old shoe brand
How has the third-generation family business flourished for 130 years?
We believe that this depends on product knowledge, identifying trends, adapting to and controlling market conditions, and most importantly our talents. These are the clues that run through our entire history, allowing us to stay ahead in today's game.
Our founder, William Lamb, was good at spotting market needs and acting accordingly. In 1887, in Wakefield, Yorkshire, William Lamb used his first-hand knowledge of mining to create special clogs with durable finishes that miners could wear. As his products became more and more popular, William Lamb's business grew to become the largest manufacturer of clogs in Europe. From the beginning, shoes manufacturer have focused on creating suitable products to meet customer needs.
As the world develops, changes and adapts, so do we, driven by our customers. From the production of boots and gas mask boxes to supporting Britain in World War I, to the creation of modern football shoes in the 1950s. We were one of the first companies to recognize the potential of "trainers", expanded our supply chain globally to maintain our competitive advantage, and established ethics before it became popular.
We look for opportunities. Our deep-rooted product knowledge, focus on quality, and ability to adapt and innovate mean that we are fully capable of meeting the needs of tomorrow.
